4/7: Ratchet by Dzorek 4/7: Ratchet by Dzorek
Finally got tired of trying to finish this. So I'm going to throw it out there as being complete.
I still haven't been able to watch any of the new episodes of the most recent season... :'c

Wow, allow me to say that I absolutely love Ratchet so I may be a bit tough.
Ok, the body is nearly flawless. But his arm in the background is a bit off. But you got his front arm perfect. His hand could use some improvement, but there is always room for that. The shoulder brings out my fan girl-ness. X) it is beautifully executed and VERY accurate. Mid body, might I say I would honestly believe that you were one of the artists who draw the autobots/decepticons. His head is, slightly oddly shaded and a bit, well lumpy or oblong is the best way to put it. But that is only the top. His eyebrows are dead on, and a feature I love about Ratchet. His eyes are absolutely wonderful and I melt in those light blue glowing eyes. And, how do you draw the autobot symbol so well?
Now the shading, oh the shading. It is beautiful and although a flaw here and there, your shading skills are absolutely positively amazing! The green glow of the synthetic energon (aka synthian) shining against Ratchet's metallic shell. And might I say beautiful execution of the light source and its shading.

Over all, I love how you were so accurate but yet you made it your own. You really captured Ratchet's personality, and the shading sets the mood so secrecy and nervousness. (I'm pretty sure that's what you were going for....?)
This is a master piece and I will be sure to watch you for more!
What do you think?

Ratchet has been caught by the others who are afraid he will use the synthetic Energon again.  It's intervention time.  Everything about this says, "Wonderful".

Oh god, this is gorgeous... :) LOVE Ratchet!!  Makes me think of episode 22, I just watched it a couple of days ago! That episode was a powerful one indeed, and in several ways, too.

I like how the darker neutral background brings out Ratchet's brighter color scheme (or "paint job", of you will ^^), though I also like how some of him is shrouded in shadow as well. Very fitting for this. And I love how he looks like he has conflicted feelings, wondering if he's doing the right thing to help his dear friends and comrades... or if what he will do will lead him astray.

Stunning work! Love it. :D He even almost has a majestic quality here.

What would you have liked to change or complete?

:icondzorek:

I think I would have liked to have spent more time on the lower portion of his body- along with his forearm/hand that holds the jar of synthetic energon (that's what it's called right?). I feel like I worked really hard on the upper portion of him, but failed to show that throughout the rest of him. I'd like to change that, but I don't really feel like I can spend any more time on it than I already have. I kinda wanted to just... put it out there and say it was finished, specifically for my sake so that I wouldn't have to bother myself time and time again with feeling like I had to work on it and nothing else. I do like where it's at right now, but I know it's not perfect, and I know I could have worked more on it. I just didn't feel like I should right now.

Maybe in a few months when I have a better grip on perspective and have a bit more time to myself, I'll try and touch-up the portions of him I find a bit too sketchy. :T

Thanks for the reply. I learn so much from my fellow artists.
I'm actually glad you decided to put it up, rather than let it eat at you, even though you wish you could have done more. I know that feeling all too well, but I agree that it's sometimes important tot just move on to the next piece.
Best of luck to you. I hope you never stop learning and creating, because your stuff is already amazing.
I send all the encouragement I can muster!

Yeah, it's sometimes hard as an artist knowing when to stop with a piece of art. Other times it comes more easier- knowing when to put the pen/brush down. I personally have a hard time leaving things unfinished on my computer, and feel like it's necessary that I finished my WIPs first before starting on newer projects. Which isn't really good for me, I think. As an artist one needs to be more concerned with putting forth ideas, whether they're complete or not. That at least keeps the imagination flowing easily. I find myself trying to finish a single idea before allowing myself to move on to a new one.

Thank you! I really appreciate that. Your words have made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, haha. Thank you a million times over, and I wish the same for you! May your artist journey be a fantastic one.

It's funny -- sometimes I forget that even people I consider to be fully-formed Artistes Extraordinaire might still feel flounder-y and inadequate sometimes. I forget that just because their skills are exemplary, admirable, and in general far better than mine, it does not follow that they have or believe they have All Possible Wisdom. And that's a good thing -- once you think you know everything, you're gonna stop progressing. But it reminds me that I've got to remember to send even Art Greats like you encouragement now and then. Who doesn't need that?
I really appreciate your time tonight. You're really taught me a good lesson. And you've made me feel like I can make a difference, even with only a few typed words of encouragement. So thank you. And rock on. Yes, there is more to learn. But don't forget that you've got some GORGEOUS art to your credit already. May you never stop creating and loving it.
I send you love and support via emoticons: :cuddle::heart:

Oh my goodness, you flatter me! I've never really considered myself to be "great" when it comes to my works, but rather, always in need of improvement. I would like to think that my drive to honing my skills helps me. The drive to be better is really kinda important for artists in general. If you loose that drive, it's hard to get back into the frame of mind for art-making.

Yes, thank you though for your words of encouragement. I really do appreciate it, and I think artists, of any level, appreciate kind words like that. It really does help. c: So no, THANK YOU. <3
Hope you have a great evening!

Wow this is awesome! It has a very special look to it, I love it. Great lighting, the metal shine is very good. I also like the sketchyness, I'd say it's perfectly fine to call it done like this.
